Celebrate authors and writing at the Library this November! Meet some of your favorite children’s book authors and illustrators, support local authors, and spend the afternoon with Amy Thielen, chef and bestselling author of two cookbooks, and a memoir,

Amy will share insights from her culinary journey, including her experiences training in some of New York City’s top restaurants and returning home to Minnesota, where she rediscovered the richness of regional cooking. Amy has been featured on Food Network, NPR, and in publications such as The New York Times and Food & Wine.
 
Her books The New Midwestern Table and Give a Girl a Knife both won the James Beard Book Award for American cooking.

It’s been a remarkable season for our Outreach Team. Their dedication to reaching every corner of our community has earned two major honors: the 2025 Alexander J. Skrzypek Award from the Illinois Library Association and a national award from the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services.
